So I've been giving some serious thought to energy the last few days, having watched my own personal energy ebb & flow like crazy. When I'm feeling realy low, I gravitate to the behaviors I know won't drain me such as spending time alone, reading, writing, etc. But once the battery is charged, and even when it's beginning to run down a bit, I jump into all sorts of behaviors that will drain the heck out of me - coffee, late night coffee, people, talking with too many people, run, run, run. So I'm wondering why I don't work at just maintaining my energy level rather than doing this all or nothing approach like a yo-yo.

I've been re-reading a lot about the myers briggs lately. I'm recognizing how much the INTP fits me. Since they claim that we tend to be very focused on our passionate pursuits and only want to work on things as our energy and interests dictate (which sounds pretty artsy to me), then I'm realizing just how important it is to take better care of myself.

If I waited until I was thirsty to drink water, then I'd spend most of the day dehydrated. I drink lots of water each day to prevent myself from getting thirsty. So why not do the same with the rest of my physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs? Something for me to ponder. - Kimber
